Founded in 1866, the Beverley is one of the UK’s longest-established societies.

We are proud to have served generations of families in our region and beyond and are committed to building better futures for the members who own the Society, our people, our community and the sector we belong to. We focus on offering good‑value savings and mortgage products, backed by exceptional customer service and specialise in helping people who are underserved by the traditional mortgage market, whilst giving back to our heartland year after year.

Doing things differently

As a mutual building society, Beverley Building Society was created to help ordinary people own their own homes. Our founders were the ‘revolutionaries’ of their day, and formed collectives, to enable income from into savings accounts to be used to fund residential mortgages for its members.

Today at Beverley Building Society, our customers continue to be at the heart of everything we do. In a world where financial services are becoming ever more automated and impersonal, we believe deeply in the value of real human connection. That’s why we remain committed to offering genuine, face‑to‑face service built on trust, empathy and understanding.

Every person who walks through our doors is treated as an individual – never a number. We take the time to listen, to understand your unique circumstances, and to make thoughtful, practical decisions that support what is truly best for you. No algorithms. No box‑ticking. Just real people dedicated to helping real people.

As a mutual, every penny of profit goes straight back into strengthening the Society and supporting the members and communities we proudly serve. When you choose us, you’re choosing an organisation that invests in you.

Most importantly, you’ll never feel pressured to take out a product or service. Our promise is simple: honest answers, clear guidance, and advice that genuinely fits your needs – nothing more, nothing less.

Because at Beverley Building Society, doing the right thing for our customers isn’t just a principle. It’s who we are.

Helping our community

Giving back to the place we proudly call home is deeply rooted in Beverley’s ethos and we are committed to helping our region thrive – ensuring it remains a vibrant, supportive, and inspiring place to live and work.

Every year, we carefully choose a selection of community partners whose work strengthens our East Riding heartland and reflects the values we hold close. Alongside supporting a range of local non-profit organisations, we dedicate ourselves to one Charity of the Year, allowing us to make a truly meaningful difference to a cause that matters.

For 2026, our team has chosen to stand behind the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre – a place that has been a steady, compassionate presence in our community since 1993. For over three decades, the Centre has offered vital support to people across Beverley and the East Riding: from free guidance on life’s toughest challenges and essential housing initiatives, to a food bank and children’s services, including its much-loved pre-school nursery, Little Gruffalos.

In 2025, the Centre’s remarkable impact reached national attention when local volunteers joined TV presenter Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team to build a permanent home for the Charity’s Youth Hub – an incredible testament to the community’s belief in its mission.

Cherry Tree’s motto, “When you don’t know where to turn, we can help you or find someone who can,” perfectly sums up the vital lifeline it provides. It is a place of refuge, guidance, and hope for local people navigating difficult times – and we are honoured to support their work throughout the year ahead.
