We’re delighted to be once again supporting the East Yorkshire arm of Mission Christmas, the UK’s largest Christmas toy drive, with a collection box for donations now in pride of place within our branch.
Mission Christmas is an annual, national campaign organised by the Cash for Kids appeal run by Viking FM – Planet Radio, with the aim of bringing delight to youngsters aged 0 to 18 across the UK who might not otherwise be able to enjoy a visit from Santa Claus.
And we’re always bowled over by the generosity of our members, in support of our collections in aid of the East Yorkshire branch of the campaign, which sees thousands of gifts handed out each year.
This year, the team have already received 8,077 applications for toys from individuals and organisations across the region, and we’re confident that, with your help, we can play our part in helping them meet those.
As we did last year, we’ll be giving our two Charity of the Month donations for November and December, totalling £500, to the appeal, to top up the toys you give, as well as match-funding cash raised from a range of fundraising activities being planned by our team in branch over the next few weeks – watch this space for more details.
If you would like to donate, you can either bring in toys and deposit them in the dedicated box in-branch, or donate cash towards the appeal – just ask our friendly counter team for details.
According to the elves, the sooner you deposit your gifts, the sooner they can bring a smile to those young faces!
Donations can be made until the end of the day on Wednesday, December 16th, and tall cash donated will be given to Mission Christmas to be turned into presents.
The Society’s Tracy Fletcher said: “We know Mission Christmas is a cause very close to our members’ hearts and that’s why we are delighted to be able to support their efforts again this year.
“We know we can count on your generosity and look forward to seeing the pile of toys, games and other gifts grow as the festive season approaches.”
