The Beverley Building Society have named their Charity of the Month for April 2017, as voted for by their members. The winning charity was the British Heart Foundation (BHF), which was gifted to the BHF charity shop on Toll Gavel.

The Society met with Vanessa, shop manager, to present the cheque for £250. She said:

“We are so grateful for the donation from the Society, it can go towards lifesaving equipment and resources such as a local defibrillator”

“Anyone wishing to learn CPR can come to the British Heart Foundation shop to be trained and receive a certificate for free”

The British Heart Foundation aims to fund thousands of research projects around the UK that are fighting heart disease. They also raise awareness of heart disease so that people are better informed. By donating unwanted clothes to the BHF shop in Beverley to be sold, the funds can be put to use in the local area.

The Society’s Marketing Manager, Zoe Fisher, said: “The British Heart Foundation is a brilliant charity fighting for awareness and research for such an important cause”

“I think that the free CPR training that Vanessa hosts at the shop in Beverley is a great way to give locals the skills to potentially save someone’s life”
